BeersByMe helps people find and contribute regular draft-beer prices at nearby bars. This policy explains the information BeersByMe may process, why it is used, and the choices available to users.
With permission, BeersByMe may use your current location while the app is in use to find nearby bars and price reports. The current app does not request background location. Community activity may include draft prices, pour sizes, associated bars and beers, confirmations, reports, timestamps and identifiers needed for contribution history and trust signals.
Optional contributor profiles are private by default. If made public, they may include a chosen username, optional display name, contribution statistics and public contribution activity. We may also process follower relationships, private blocks and private abuse reports.
Anonymous authenticated sessions use internal identifiers. If you choose Sign in with Apple, we process the account identifier Apple provides and information you elect to share. Bar-claim requests may include business contact and verification information.
We use information to provide nearby price discovery, confidence and freshness signals, community contribution features, optional social features, authentication, bar verification, abuse prevention, moderation, reliability and security.
Social features do not expose a contributor's current or live location. A public contribution may reveal the bar associated with that specific contribution. Blocking is private. Contributor reports are private moderation data and are not publicly posted.
The current MVP does not intentionally use personal information for cross-company tracking or behavioral advertising. If advertising, analytics or third-party SDKs are added later, this policy and applicable App Store disclosures will be updated before release.
Infrastructure may involve Apple platform services, Render application/database hosting and OpenStreetMap-related infrastructure for fallback place discovery. GitHub Actions is used for build, test and operational automation and is not embedded as an in-app advertising or analytics SDK. We do not sell personal information in the current product design.
Information is retained as reasonably necessary to operate BeersByMe, maintain price history and trust signals, prevent abuse, satisfy legal obligations and resolve disputes. Signed-in users can delete their account in the app. Account-linked authorization and social relationships are removed according to production database rules. Historical crowdsourced observations may remain after identity is detached. Safety/moderation records may be retained where reasonably necessary, and disaster-recovery backups may temporarily contain previously existing data until they age out.
You can change location permission, choose profile visibility, follow/unfollow contributors, block/unblock contributors, report contributors, choose whether to share links, sign out and delete a signed-in account.
BeersByMe is an alcohol-related discovery app and is not intended for children.
We use measures including authenticated sessions, hashed server-side session tokens, authorization controls, private-by-default profiles, bilateral blocking, rate limiting and HTTPS. No system can guarantee absolute security.
